Square Enix has given a timeframe for when we can expect the Final Fantasy 14 Open Beta to hit Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Despite its immense popularity and presence on PlayStation consoles, Final Fantasy 14 has never made its way to Xbox consoles. Launching in 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC, Final Fantasy 14 has only gone from strength to strength. The MMORPG has received four major expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker, with a fifth on the way called Dawntrail.
Having surged in popularity, Final Fantasy 14 has since been released across PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and macOS. Yet, somehow, the game has never been made available on Xbox. Thankfully, that’s all set to change.
Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer announced in July 2023, during the North American Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest, that a port of the game would be coming to Xbox Series X|S. The port will support faster load times, cross-play and cross-progression with the PlayStation and PC versions, and the Series X version specifically will be playable in native 4K. An Open Beta for the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy 14 has also been announced. Below, we’ll go over all the key dates and information you’ll need to know in order to take part.
When Does The Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Open Beta Start?
Square Enix has announced that the Open Beta for the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy 14 will arrive during the Patch 6.5 Growing Light cycle. The patch, which launched on October 3, 2023, will feature a number of subsequent updates (6.5x) that will rollout over the coming months. At the time of writing, it’s unclear exactly which 6.5 patch the Open Beta will release, however fans likely won’t have long to wait.
Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Release Date
As for Final Fantasy 14’s full Xbox release, Square Enix has confirmed that the Xbox Series X|S version will launch in Spring 2024. An exact release date has yet to be revealed, however more information will likely emerge as we move closer to the release window.
Will Final Fantasy 14 On Xbox Have A Free Trial?
Yes, much like the versions on both PlayStation and PC, Xbox players will be able to enjoy Final Fantasy 14 through a free trial. Players will be able to play A Realm Reborn and access both the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions up to Level 70 with no restrictions on playtime.
